General Terms and Conditions

These General Terms and Conditions apply to all products and services offered by the Migros Club Schools.
(valid as of May 2010)

Payment of the course fee*

After enrolling for a course, you will receive a participant card that is also your paying-in form. The due date for payment printed on the form is binding. Once you have enrolled on a course, you are obliged to pay the fee for that course. Non-payment of the course fee is not equivalent to withdrawal from the course. You can pay the course fee at the Club School office.

* There are different regulations governing courses that are carried out by the Club School of the Migros Cooperative Geneva. These are to be found at the end of these General Terms and Conditions.

Course administration

For organisational reasons, we reserve the right to postpone, amalgamate or relocate classes. We also reserve the right to shorten a course, in which case the corresponding proportion of the course fee will be reimbursed. The management of the school may replace a teacher for a part or the whole of a course if necessary.

Number of course participants and course starts

In order to achieve the best possible results, we fix a maximum and a minimum number of participants for each course. Course places are filled on a ‘first come first served’ basis (on condition of payment by the due date). If there are insufficient enrolments for a course, it will in general not take place and the course fee will be waived or refunded .

If the number of participants for a course is under the minimum required, the course may take place on condition that the participants undertake to pay a proportionately higher fee or, if it makes sense, that they accept a reduced number of lessons.

Exclusion from a course

The school management reserves the right to exclude any participant from a course for a justified reason. In the following cases the participant is liable for the whole course fee, i.e. the course participant is entitled to neither a full nor a proportional refund of the course fee: exclusion from the course for non-payment of the course fee or for serious matters such as personal defamation, harassment, criminal damage etc.).

Cancellation of an enrolment prior to the start of a course*

Cancelling an enrolment involves administrative costs. Depending on the time of your cancellation, the course fee can be fully or partially refunded. The conditions are the following:

Courses up to CHF 1'000:

If you wish to cancel your enrolment one week or more before the start of the course, the course fee is waived or reimbursed less a processing charge of CHF 30.00. If you cancel less than one week before the start of a course, you will be liable for payment of the full course fee.

Courses over CHF 1'000:

In this case cancellation is required in writing. The date the Club School receives your letter counts as the date of your cancellation. The waiving or refunding of the course fee will be calculated as follows:

Date of cancellation: Cancellation charge:
Up to 45 calendar days before start of course: CHF 100.- administrative charge
Between 44 and 22 calendar days before start of course: 10% of the course fee, (max. CHF 500.-)
Between 21 and 15 calendar days before the start of the course: 30 % of the course fee
Between 14 and 8 calendar days before the start of the course: 50 % of the course fee
Between 7 calendar days and one calendar day before the start of the course: 80 % of the course fee
After the course begins: 100% of the course fee

The Club Schools reserve the right to pass on third-party charges for overnight accommodation, food, travel, etc.

Unattended lessons

Unattended lessons cannot be made up. In principle, it is not possible to give a refund for any unattended lesson.

Course attestation

Upon request and on condition of attending at least 80 percent of the lessons, we will provide you with a written attestation of course attendance or enter details of the course in the logbook issued by the Swiss Federation for Adult Learning (SVEB/FSEA). In both cases, however, you must request your attestation within a year of completing the course.

For all courses and events organised by the Migros Club Schools we accept no liability for any damages arising. You are therefore personally responsible for adequate insurance cover. The use of the Migros Club Schools’ facilities is at your own risk. The Migros Club Schools cannot be held liable for theft or loss of property.

Data protection

By enrolling for the course, you agree to the Club Schools of the regional Migros Cooperatives and the Coordination Office of the Club Schools of the Federation of Migros Cooperatives using your data (personal details, courses booked, payment record, etc.) for additional purposes (advertising, rejection of enrolment applications because of a poor payment record, etc.).
